LOL!! Wish I had some pictures of dipnetting in the Copper River, or the fish wheels, also on the Copper River!
My mother does have some old pictures of cleaning salmon on a table made of planks on sawhorses, then canning them in a half-barrel over an open fire. Nowadays they tell you not to can meat and fish that way, but we ate a lot of it and never got sick.

It's a great way to put up food, you work like the dickens for a few days a year and your meat is up. We put something like 300 salmon last summer, most were froze, maybe 1/3 to 1/4 were canned.

don't I wish we could net here. We can't use anything but regular fishing poles here so it takes awhile to catch enough fish to make it through the winter. We also ice fish here...... John
