DH is tired of paying for work gloves that don't last. He would like to try to make some himself. What would you recommend for a strong leather? Anyone ever made their own?

Lacy, I hear ya. One of the problems is, strong leather is usually thick, stiffer leather. It would make working much more work, if ya follow my drift. Mabe make gloves with extra palms? Then when he wears out a set, off come the old palm, on with the new. JD

I buy cotton Oil Rigger and Green Apes by the case at the local wholesale house. I never found anything that last. I don't like leather because when it get wet then dries it is so stiff they are unusable. I have resigned myself to the fact they all have a built in service life of about two days with duct tape about three or four more.

DH usually wears out the finger tips. and mostly it's his right glove. He's got about 3 pair now, with useless rights. I'm thinking of cutting off the tips from one left glove and attaching them to the other two damaged rights. I'm wondering if there is some type of glue that would work. It would be tight quarters to try to sew on tips...

lacyj: Good point. I just figured out why I have an entire box of left handed gloves.
