Looks like spring has caught up with most of the boards I monitor but we are not quite there yet. Break up is early enough this year we may do our annual trek into town earlier this year. The swans are back and the caribou are just starting to come through.

Spring has arrived early this year in the cascade mts.Plant life is starting to bud which means the migration of the mule deer is in full swing.Usually by 15 april, the mt is crawling with deer, but I'd bet any day now.The wildflowers are in full color also.GR

Well, we got 2 feet of snow in Northern New England only a week ago. It is melting fast, though, and promises to be especially muddy due to the additional precipiation. What a snowy and cold winter we've had. I kept saying, "We may as well be in Alaska." LOL!
Anyway, I almost posted last week about how quiet its been here.

Our internet has been off quit a bit the last few weeks, usually when we're home and have time to do anything online. The connection is always worse this time of year. Lots going on right now, ---- been burning the midnight oil --- but things should get back to "normal" (whatever that means ) in the next few weeks. Don't give up on us here, though. Lots of great homesteading stuff to talk about, but just seems that there's really never enough time to "talk". Jenny

We used to live in NH, near Laconia.
Spring is coming here -- daffodils in bloom, green grass growing. But we had snow last night and are supposed to have more tonight and tomorrow. It's already melted off down here. We really need it, though, as it has been a VERY dry winter, and there's not nearly enough snow pack in the mountains.

Spring is starting to show up in northern Maine also. I'll be glad when we get through mud season though. John

John ~ this is the worst mud we've had in at least several years. Usually mud season isn't too bad where we are in NH (since the road and our driveway are paved).

Sorry to hear of your mud problem. We are having a drought.Mule deer have returned from their columbia river winter ground about 3 weeks early this year. They seem to follow the browse up the mts.May flies out in march...now there is a problem. Why I asked you about your place of residence Kristianna, is you had mentioned North East.I was raised in Hudson Mass, and spent lots of time in the upper states.Had 102 acres in Stetson Maine(just west of Bangor)How I ended up with holdings in Wa and alaska is beyond me ;D...Maybe I just forgot the way home.Happy Easter to you and yours...Rove
