So what are you folks paying for fuel? We just got in a load of gas yesterday 180 gallons @ $788.00. Bob probably wishes he could get that cheap

Chuck: We are still floundering in one of the few advantages of once a year barge service. We get our fuel into the village once a year usually in early may and whatever the price is then is what we pay. I loaded up last year anticipating an increase and it looks like a good move now. We paid 2.66 for #1 and 2.76 for regular gas. That doesn't include the price to haul it sixty miles round trip by water up here. The cost of maintaining that equipment and all the storage facilities at both sites and spill prevention and clean up equipment all make the total cost incredible. Fossil fuel is one of the things I want to make go away in my lifetime.

Don't get rid of it until they make chainsaws and snowmachines that run on stovewood.

I agree with you there too, but Chuck as far as the chainsaw and the snowmachine, hubby'll make do with an axe and I'll hitch up the dogs....LOL!! Wolfie

That's about what my burn rate was at the homestead......I can't imagine doing all that without a chainsaw and a pickup! By the time there's enough snow to run my machine the wood is all split and stacked.

Not a problem in the land of no trees. Seriously I think a good hard smack in the pocket book is the only thing that will make most Americans realize we are in a new century and still being milked to death for last century's technology.

Our pocket book is a little tender right now don't think it could take much of a punch.

Chuck: I don't think any of us out here want or can tolerate the price increase. When I said milked to death in my previous post I meant that literally. Every time I see a photo of our fine young people that have made the ultimate sacrifice I wonder what part of that is due to our dependence on fossil fuel? There are just to many possible solutions out there that could exclude that portion of the price. I truly believe no practical alternatives will be available on a large scale untill the blood sucking oil cartel can make as much money from them. I'm saying that as a vetran that supports our troops and one that has just enough experience in renewable energy to realize our fossil fuel dependencies are habit forming for the benefit of very few.
