It may seem like a strange subject, but I can't find a good boot for cold winter weather.
I bought some LL Bean boots for my most "outdoorsy" child and the foot is waterproof, but the nylong upper just doesn't keep his feet/ankles/legs completely dry.
What do you put on your children in Alaska? Or what have you heard recommended? Please include links if possible.
Thanks.

I am not from Alaska but do spend a little time out in the cold. I would look into Sorels if the price isn't a factor. Cabellas sells them and also has a website and online store. Just use Cabelas in your search mode and you should find it. John

That's what we were going to suggest too. We get all of our son's boots either at yard sales or at second hand stores like Salvation Army stores. Children grow out of things so fast that everything we get is almost new, but we only pay a few dollars a pair. Sometimes the stores don't have anything, like just after apartment fires or something. Sometimes they have lots. At those times, we just buy things that one of them will eventually grow into. (Jenny's frugal tip of the day! ;D) Jenny Alaska HOMESTEADING Journal

Thank you both for your replies. I can find winter boots, I just can't find ones that will keep my children's feet dry *and* warm. For this particular child (8 yo mentioned above) I need to keep two of everything on hand. He literally has two winter jackets, two pair of snowpants (plus a snow suit) and two pair of boots. He also owns about 3 times as many mittens and hats as his siblings. I just cut 3 more pair of mittens from fleece for him and I need to get those made up. Its isn't easy keeping up with this guy. Thanks again for your helpful suggestions. K
