I leave on a plane the 17th of this month. I will arrive in Fairbanks that night... WOW! PINCH ME!!!! I will be staying at a friends small cabin and then I will just have to take it from there. My family and all my friends tell that if I go through with this I cannot call and say HELP... because I will be stuck there... Hehe... OK! ;D

Wow... ya know, this place is great! Just wish there was more activity. But tis ok, we do what we can, eh?
I should be able to check in at the library hopefully at least once a week. I can't bring my computer at this time and will probably have it shipped to me later along with all the rest of my belongings. I am just taking what I can bring on the plane. I am bringing my dry foods such as beans, rice, wheat... clothes, bedding... in essence... not much! However, I have been assured that warm winter clothing will be scrounged up and I have a small warm cabin to live in for a while. Am I scared? Yup... well a little. I think it is more apprehension of moving away from what I have grown used to. I have no illusions this will be easy... however, I have lived this way before so I have a good idea what's in store. Maybe I am naive, but I don't think this will be much different whether I were to stay here or move there. Either way my circumstances will be about the same, perhaps better. Cold... I am going to freeze! Not really, but I will be cold till I adjust. The thing is, there is no turning back. Once I am on that plane... it is done. I am flying by the seat of my pants... it may be a very stupid thing to do... but it is just me... I have no responsibilities but to myself. I go now or I never will.
I don't have a job lined up, but I have been looking at jobs online and I do believe I will be able to secure a job... in the meantime I will have an outhouse to help put up because the cabin is unfinished and doesn't have a toilet... just a honey bucket... I assume they are still called that? lol
I can't think of any more to tell... but if I think of something... or have any questions I will tell or ask!

Lentils make good bean sprouts, will give you a bit of a vegetable.
Soak them overnight, and then rinse and drain and get ALL ov the water out that you can. Cover with something ourous (I set a bit of paper towel on top), and rinse 2-3 times a day. Drain all of the water out that you can after every rinse.
For pale sprouts, keep in the dark. For green sprouts, let in more light.
If you set the bean sprouts in a bowl of water, the husks will float to the top and they will be easily skimmed off.
Eat in a salad, or stir-fry with a little soy.
Happy trails!!!!!!!

Congrats on making the move!! We've been very busy so I haven't checked in here in a while. We're still plannning on moving there in two years. Don't know how much library computer time you're allowed but keep us updated on your adventures and the "adjustments" you find you have to make living up there (after being down here for so long). Good Luck!
