I am looking for a great wall map of Alaska. Does anyone know of a great resource for maps of Alaska. I like the National Geographic detail maps as well the large format land feature maps that almost look like a topo.
Alaska is so large I wouldnt be surprised that it would be broken into regions- which i could tape together. I have the Alaska Atlas and Gazetteer but it is too small in size. I need the big picture!
I would love to find a whole wall sized map. I cant even find a highway map-i realize they dont have many highways.
any ideas?

It isnt a whole wall map of ak but some one some where has a map of ak of the land break up of federal, state, native, private, and national parks. a friend of mine had one back when 10 yrs ago but i never asked where he got it. I would try the DNR Dept of Natural Resourses. They are in charge of selling the state land in the over the counter sales. Check with the DNR office in Fairbanks. ? Any one with a number ??

I cant even find a highway map-i realize they dont have many highways. any ideas? ;D ;D ;D Oh, that reminds me of when I was first planning my move to Alaska. I looked at a map and thought it was terrible ---- it hardly showed any roads! Every map I looked at was like that --- lacking in the important details, like roads. Then I finally got up here and found out why ;D Most of our maps are from the USGS. All the air taxi services have huge ones, but they may be taped together. Jenny

Check with the University of Alaskas Mining and Minerals Department in Fairbanks, they have maps of every imaginable size and detail. I don't know if they actually sell them or not, but they would certianly be able to steer you in the right directition as to where you could purchase them at.

Try United States Geological Society also, I can't guarantee anything.

I finally bought the Topo CD for Alaska which cost $99 i think. I also got the Sectionals ($76) for all of Alaska. Gettin maps from the government is difficult unless you go into a regional government bookstore. my closest one is in Atlanta- yikes, i hate hotlanta!
