Are there any Kuvasz breeders in AK? I love the Kuvasz breen and was wondering if I should be finding a pup from the lower 48 or if there was a breeder in AK.

What beautiful and useful dogs. I have never heard of them. Wolfie thanks for posting the web site for them.

Yes they are, and I acutually wrote to the owner of the local site to see if I could get anymore info on them. As you know, I've tried to determine what my dogs are, but haven't had a lot of luck. Most everyone tells me they are MacKenzie mix, but in looking at a few of my pups and then at these dogs, I may have found otherwise. Who knows! lol

I owned 2 kuvasz for a few years and I will be getting another one when I move back to AK and get some property. I actually adopted both Kuvasz when they were 2 years old and both of them had never seen anything like a farm animal before. I had them both trained to guard my goats <had 78 at the time> within 2 weeks. I really have grown to love the breed. They are the Hungarian version of the Great Pyrenese. In ancient times, the Kuvasz were used as napkins in the castles. The fur of a kuvasz does not have the little hook at the end so the grease and dirt falls off the dog. So they were allowed to roam around the castle during meal times so the people could wipe their hands on them. I was wondering if there were any breeders up there so I could know whether to contact the breeder I've found in WV about a puppy before I came up. I still might do that as I can then get another one from AK and breed them....having totally different gene pools.
