Hi everybody, I am trying to find out what property tax will be on a parcel of land I am interested. The parcel is listed in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough but I can find nothing when using google search for Matanuska-Susitna borough. At least nothing that gives me the info I am looking for. I am also having a hard time finding the Talkeetna Recording District to find out about the covenants on the subdivision I'm looking at. I have been using the internet to do my searching but don't know where to look I guess. Can anyone out there help me with this? Thank you, brent

Can you contact the person who listed it?

Right. If it's privately owned land, maybe you could contact the owner or real estate agent. Also, here's the contact information for land in the Mat-Su borough. This particular phone number is for the Land Use Department, but they are in the same office, which is relatively small, so you should be able to get most of the information you need. Matanuska-Susitna Borough 350 E. Dahlia Ave. Palmer, AK 99645 Phone: (907) 745-9853 or (907) 745-9876 Fax: (907) 745-9876 Looks like the have a limited website, too. www.matsugov.usHere's the number for borough owned lands: (907) 745-9869 The borough Clerk's number is (907) 745-9683 The number for platting is (907) 745-9874 The number for Assessments - Real property info (907) 745-9642 or for personal property and airplane tax (907) 745-9637 Now, you have enough numbers to keep you on the phone all day. I've always found them to be very helpful and accomodating. Hope this helps, or at least gives you a starting point. Just as a general idea, the average property taxes in our area for raw land (even with a house, they still count bush land as raw land) is about $10 per acre. Sometimes a little less; sometimes a little more. Doesn't sound like much at all, but when you consider that you get absolutely NO services, such as fire protection, library access, etc, it's robbery! Jenny

brent: www.dnr.state.ak.us/ssd/recoff/search.cfmIf you use the name search under this link you will find all the recorded property for the individual. Even with multiples you should be able to identify the one in question. From that you can identify any covenents that have been filed on the property. Understand that most ethical people record transactions but it is not mandatory. I don't know if that applies to covenents.
