Haines/Skagway area

Hello. I'm just trying to do some research on an area that would satisfy both my wife and I. If I had my way we would move to the interior, if she had her way we would move to the Sitka area so I'm trying to investigate areas with more of a compromise!
Does anyone have links to the area I'm currently trying to research (Haines/Skagway) or can anyone recommend another area for me to investigate?? Thank you!

Edited: I should add that I don't mean the towns themselves (we don't want to live in town but the whole area)

Spent some times in Haines area but not a lot. Excellent goat hunting and fishing. Lots of tourists in the summer. One advantage of about anywhere in SE is a boat can get you to the real Alaska that isn't as crowded as somewhere with road access. It will all depend on what you are used to.

I realy liked Haines land is availble and not super pricy. Skagway is nice but not much land availble. Haines has alot less rain then other SE towns. I ve been looking at POW island lately
