Hi, We are not sure where to put this...maybe someone here can help us here. We have a Vexilar Deptherm Themometer that has a broken up mercury level. We are not sure if it is mercury or not but it is red. The part that you read! Well we have shaken it holding the top, holding the bottom. put it in hot water, in the freezer, and nothing works! Somehow we want to get the mercury level down and without the spaces in it! CAN ANYONE HELP US? Thanks Robert and Cynthia

Thanks for the reply Jenny. The name vexilar comes from a company that makes sonar fish locators, "fish locator" the (Deptherm) name comes from depth and temperature. COMPANY PRODUCT NAME...It is just a fancy themometer that has a tube that fills from a small hole in it, the farther down it goes the more pressure from the water and the more it fills, giving a reading on a graph telling the max depth it went. The Thermometer part of it is just like any thermometer and hoped that people in the food storage area would know something about how to make the air bubbles in them come out? We really enjoy ice fishing and believe it or not enjoy northern pike meat. I really like my little thermometer for keeping records of water temps! We cant wait to get going up to Alaska. The bus is packed but we havent sold the house yet!

Thanks for the education! Off subject here, but we LOVE pike ! ! ! Not much in our lake to eat, but I sure wish some pike would find their way in. It's pretty locked, so I'm not holding my breath waiting on a pike supper. Folks look at us like we're nuts when we say we like it. But, then again, we thoroughly enjoy beaver, too. Jenny
