Winter Window Herb Garden

Has anyone grown herbs in a sunny window during the winter? I've only grown them outdoors in our main garden during the summer. I really enjoy it so much, and every fall at the end of the season I say I'm going to get some going in the house for the winter. I have yet to get around to it. If you've tried it, what works for you ---- what kinds of herbs, what kinds of containers, etc. ?
