Our oldest son (2yrs. 8 mos.) is very musically inclined. Just loves it. We don't know much about his birth family other than that his birth mom plays the piano beautifully. We just bought him a pint sized guitar and a harmonica. He just can't put them down. LOVES to have me sing while he plays the instruments. We want to encourage him. I've heard that children as young as three can be taught to play piano and other instruments. Any thoughts on that? ? Remember, we're in a small fishing village in Alaska, and plan on returning to our remote homestead soon Oh, that reminds me. I know a family whose teenager takes piano lessons from a woman here in town. Maybe I'll contact her. Still would like other suggestions. Thanks, Jenny Alaska HOMESTEADING Journal

I've seen very small children playing the violin -- three and four years old. A violin would probably be easier to transport and store than a piano, LOL!! Not to mention less expensive to start with! You can get violin lessons on video. I'm not sure what is out there that is suitable for such a young child, though. Are you on any of the homeschooling lists? There may be someone there who can help you find what you are looking for.
