Does anyone know if registered dogs have to be chipped yet? What's the plan for that? Just wondering if we buy a dog or dogs from a breeder if the pups will have to be chipped. What about buying and selling dogs in general. I know that livestock will soon all have chips (supposedly), but didn't know about dogs. Are the animal shelters already chipping all the animals?
Thanks,
Jenny

All dogs comming from the shelters are always chipped. That way they can identify them one and 2 make sure you did your spay and neuter as by contract you have to do. A lot of your breeders are chipping their dogs, but that I know it is not manditory yet.

WOW! Seems like it will be hard to find any dog at all now that isn't already chipped. If you hear of any that you think may interest us, let us know. Planning a trip to town in January.
Thanks,
Jenny

What kind of a dog are you looking for? Sled, guard, family? Anything in particular?? They are just chipped not tracked. My akc schnauser is chipped cause I wanted him to be and some of the dogs I have gotten from the mushers have been chipped cause they have to be for the iditarod and quest now.
